Photochemistry in synthesis: Where, when, and why
نویسندگان
چکیده
A series of photochemical reactions are assessed under the environmental aspect by using Eissen and Metzger’s EATOS (environmental assessment tool for organic syntheses) method and are compared with strictly analogous thermal processes. These include C–C bond-forming reactions (arylation and alkylation) and selective oxidation and reduction reactions. In most cases, the photochemical method is experimentally simpler and less expensive than the thermal alternative. A disadvantage is that photochemical reactions are carried out in rather dilute solution, and this factor gives by far the main contribution to the assessment. However, if the solvent is recovered, the photochemical reaction is more environmentfriendly.

CeCuO3 nanoparticles with diameter 4.36 nm was synthesized by a fast and simplemicrowave method using cerric sulphate tetra hydrate and copper sulphate pentahydrate asstarting reagents. CeCuO3 was synthesized under microwave heating for 6 min without calciningsteps. The synthesized products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) andscanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the photoc...
متن کاملEffect of salicylic acid on photochemistry and antioxidant capacity in Salvia nemorosa plants subjected to water stress.
Oxidative stress is commonly induced when plants are grown under drought stress conditions. To analyze how salicylic acid (SA) can partly alleviate drought-induced oxidative stress and negative impacts of drought on physiology and growth of Salvia nemorosa plants, we investigated the physiological responses of S. nemorosa to SA application under drought stress. The treatments were composed of Co...

Objectives: Studies have shown that most children before the age of 5 are capable to comprehend and express wh-questions in daily conversations. This study aimed at comparing the ability of wh-questions’ production in 4- to 6-year-old children in spontaneous and elicited conditions. Methods: In this descriptive-analytic study, 4- to 6-year-old Persian-speaking children (N = 72) were selected r...
